Kiwi agritech companies make a splash with SVG Ventures
Two New Zealand agritech businesses, Nanobubble Agritech and Hydroxsys, have been recognised by major global venture capital firm SVG Ventures for their respective work within the field of water.
Irrigation innovators Nanobubble Agritech have been named as one of the 25 finalists selected for the firm’s THRIVE Challenge from a pool of 900 applicants from 87 countries.
On 2 November, the Nanobubble team will fly to the United States to pitch their technology to a room full of investors, government officials and industry leaders.
Co-founders Leon Power and Lauren Oehme say they are thrilled to share how their work boosting the oxygen levels of irrigated water can lead to increased crop yield and water conservation on farm.
To have been recognised as a leader in agricultural sustainability is gratifying and motivating; it's why we started our company, to make a global difference.
– Leon Power, Nanobubble Agritech
"We are excited to make new connections, with the Challenge offering access into amazing networks particularly in the US. It's great exposure to key decision-makers in multinational companies and major investors for us.”
Hydroxsys has also been acknowledged by SVG Ventures as one of the top 80 companies globally making an impact for climate.
Hydroxsys CEO, Chris Macbeth, was part of the Scale for Global Growth 2023 cohort and joined our June market immersion to California. Here, he had the chance to speak about the company’s membrane filter technology, which processes chemical-rich waste streams more efficiently than chemical methods.
Being recognised by SVG is a reward for years of hard work, proving our doubters wrong and delivering real innovation to water treatment and water management.
– Chris MacBeth, Hydroxsys CEO
“Water security is a major threat internationally and sits at the heart of our purpose to Secure the Future of Water. The recognition of being named in THRIVE’s global rankings is an incredible reward for Hydroxsys, but equally highlights the importance that water, and sustainability has for all our futures.”
