Agritech Activator

Scale for Global Growth

Programme

Take your company to the next level and expand into international markets.

Callaghan Innovation and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) are joining forces to offer 10 agritech businesses a spot on the Scale for Global Growth program, a unique and unparalleled opportunity to gain the knowledge and expertise needed to succeed in the global marketplace.

If you are a technology company, with a solution for agriculture, viticulture, horticulture or even aquaculture, this programme is for you.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The Scale for Global Growth foundational programme is unique in New Zealand. It’s short, modular and tailored for growing New Zealand businesses preparing to enter international markets.

Callaghan Innovation and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise are partnering to leverage their expertise and networks in the agritech sector and deep knowledge of international markets.

Upon completion of the programme, companies will be perfectly prepared to join one of the upcoming market immersion trips facilitated by Callaghan Innovation or NZTE.

Key topics include:

  • Purpose, vision and values

  • Market validation, value proposition and product market fit

  • Pitching, branding & intangible assets

  • Finance fundamentals & raising capital

  • Business models, market readiness and value chain

  • Sustainability

  • Supply chain

  • Partnerships

It was re-validating and refreshing - there are a whole lot of things I know intuitively but I spend time on the business instead of focussing on this stuff. It gave me permission to take time to think in that environment - the programme gives you that. You won’t get distracted. You liberate your mind a bit.

– Chris, CEO @ Hydroxsys

WHO IS IT FOR?

This programme is open to NZ agritech companies with little to no international market presence.

We are looking for businesses that:

  • have aspirations to be a global company

  • are solving a problem with an international application

  • hold Intellectual Property  in biotech and/or digital and/or hardware technology

  • have a collaborative mindset, and have identified knowledge gaps creating scaling challenges.

Past programme participants have typically had between five and 20 staff, and revenue between $500k and $5m, but we will consider applicants that have staff and revenue outside of these ranges.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?

The programme’s benefits are optimised when the CEO/founder attends with one other senior member of your team. This fosters a stronger capability build and creates rich, shared learning opportunities that stick once you are back working on and in the business.

It is designed for your business’ core team, for example:

  • CEO/Founder - new to or at an early stage of entrepreneurship and internationalising

  • Chief Innovation / R&D Officer / CTO

  • Sales and Marketing Manager

Ideally we would like to have two people per company attend the course.

We both thought this is still one of the best personal and professional development opportunities that we had been on. The content was really valuable in the way that we think about our business and has actually led to a fairly fundamental change in the way that we are intending to do our business from here.

– Kate, CEO & Founder @ Hazard Evaluation
